trouble with Bellsouth phone service ?Q. Has anyone else experienced a problem with their phone service with Bellsouth? My land line went dead at 5pm today, and after calling Bellsouth twice it may not be until Thursday until they get someone to come out and look at it. Thinking about dumping them all together and going strickly with cellphones. Will save me about $25 a month. A. Bellsouth? My land line went dead at 5pm today, and after calling Bellsouth twice it may not be until Thursday until they get someone to come out and look at it. Thinking about dumping them all together and going strickly with cellphones. Will save me about $25 a month. Yes. We've had a line acting flaky for a couple of days which finally went out completely yesterday. They say they're working on it. Yes all the time. Seems there's always something strange happening. Once I tried calling home (knowing someone was there). For about an hour I got a "busey signal" which should never happen because we have call waiting and the cumputer is on another line. Later when I asked at home, no one had been using the phone. This is only one small example. I used to have a problem when anytime it would rain, even just a shower, I would loose my DSL connection and my phone line would get all staticy and basically became useless, would hang up in the middle of a conversation all of a sudden. After calling them 3 times they finally found a problem, some exposed lines on a pole down the block. Of course when they switched my lines out they forgot to carry the dsl service to it or something like that, didn't have DSL for a day or two when they got my phone fixed. For four years, we've been having the intermittent problem of the phone ringing once... then stopping. They've rolled a truck twice, but can't seem to find anything wrong, so it "must" be in our equipment. Trouble with that is, since the fire, all the wire inside is new, and all the phones are new. I had the same problem with my phone service when it rains. They finally had to replace the line and the box leading to my house. It seems to be working better. My phone is out now. Thank goodness for my cable modem. This is the 2nd time my phone service went out. The first with wires exposed down the block from a fire that happened awhile back. Now they fixed that problem and forgot to get me back in the group. We are too thinking of doing away with BellSouth all together.
