My guess is that the bankruptcy has something to do with their restaurant which, I believe, they sold two or three years ago. I doubt most secured creditors would be too concerned about something like that on a credit history. IIRC, Scott is a big golfer, which certainly explains part of the interest in a country club membership. But I would think he could find something a little cheaper--even in California. The $25,000 is a one-time initiation fee. Dues are probably in the $300/month range (just a guess). I'm wondering how the Petersons came up with that much cash so soon after a bankruptcy. Any recently dead grandparents in the picture?
