Avaya IP Office / Phone Manager integration with Internet Explorer ?

Q. We've a small office VoIP phone network (about 10 machines) running the above software. Phone Manager automatically pops up a screen to show an incoming call, and I'd like to integrate this with our office database which is is browser based through Internet Explorer. The back end is a Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP solution, but I don't think that'll matter. What I'd ideally like is when an incoming call comes through, for Phone Manager to call Internet Explorer and pass it a URL string which can take the user straight to the appropriate file in the database.

A. There's an API that comes with Avaya systems allowing you to build simple apps. I never looked into it that much when working as a programmer in a company with such a phone system but I wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult although packaging it up, distributing and installing it around an office and maintaining it might be harder. I have written some small Visual Basic applications, and Java applications before in the past for the office (Web browser based), but never using API's (as far as I'm aware!). Phone Manager Pro directly supports integration with external applications. You can supply a path to and name of an executable file and it calls this and passes parameters to it on the command line. Phone Manager Pro only. This is a Third party External Program specifier that is executed when normal popping would occur. It should be simple enough to put together a quick VB application (perhaps even a batch file!) to reformat this into the example you gave, including the agent id which I guess you could store in the system registry or as a simple locally stored file.
