AutoCAD drafting productivity measurement

Q. Is there any method or benchmark available to measure the productivity of an individual or a team ? Is there any relation between the drawing size & time taken to create the drawing (i am talking about r 14)

A. -When I first started using cad in 1985, I would have agreed with you. On the board or on the computer, the drawing generation took about the same. I have found, however, that I can draw gas manifold box arrangements quicker with Autocad than I ever could on the board. Piping details come out faster now. I think that once you have some knowledge of how the cad system works and the advantages from that, you'll find an decrease in time to produce the first drawing, and a huge decrease in editing time spent revising the drawing. -There is no good or accurate way to do this. It sounds so simple, though. Just because someone knows the commands does not mean that the individual knows diddley about his discipline, or is competent in their work habits. Ive seen it all (maybe not all). Command proficiency is only a small part of the equation. Larger drawings take longer then smaller. But smaller more dense drawings take longer then big less dense ones. This is also directly related to the speed of the person creating them. See above.
