AT&T broadband ?Q. I am having the Fixed wireless phone service by AT&T next week and have a few questions for anyone with the service. I am in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area and this service is new to us. 1. How is the reliability of this phone service and also of the high-speed internet service. The high speed is what is most exciting for me as I can only connect at 26000kpbs at home because of lousy land lines. 2. I fanyone does have the high speed internet service from this Fixed wireless system, what are the download speeds and upload speeds that you are experiencing? A. I have my service in NE Tarrant Co. for 8 days and its been great. Download speeds run @ 600 to 800kbs. I changed from SW Bell DSL which was also fast (although it didn't seem to be as fast as AT&T) but service was undependable (had for one year and was down almost half of that time). Keeping a line on the wired service might be a good idea. I have still have a dial-up service but 14.4kbs is the best it can do (sometimes even 2400kbs). My fax machine seems to work ok. I have the fixed wireless phone service with the HSD too. I live in the South Fort Worth area and I think it's great. The only problem that I've had with ATT is that a couple of times their signal was connecting to my thing-a-majig on the side of our house. They were really nice when I called them and it only took a couple of hours for them to fix the signal at their end. I'm assuming that the upload and download speeds can vary do to how much traffic or how many things that might interrupt the signal. Uploading isn't ever as fast as downloading. =o) My speed isn't as fast as Texas Ed. *sigh* bummer! =o) This will take some explaining. This is why I am writing. I have a phone number owned by my local telephone service (GCI). This phone number (currently active) was transferred from Fort Richardson, to Anchorage. The phone number I am referring to is xxx-xxx-xxxx. An ATT salesman came to my house and asked if I would like to have broadband installed. I said "great! When can it be installed?" I was told in 2 weeks In 2 weeks- it was installed. Now..., at the end of the installation, the installer told me that he tried to port the number over to ATT, but GCI would not let ATT have it. "Fine", I said, "Why don't I just change my number to one that ATT can have!...The installer told me that I would have to call ATT myself and arrange the new number. "At least you will have high-speed Internet access until this is accomplished." said the installer. You will have to wait 3 days for your account to make the system...."maybe sooner" Then he left with the broadband line hanging out of my telco box. I called every day to see if my account had made the system. On the fourth day, I called in the morning, and was told that my account still had not registered on the "system". "Great! I will call again tomorrow.", I thought to myself. Later that night, while setting up my online financial management account, I was terminated. (I could not connect, and did not know if the money had transferred to the Bank account I was opening) The next day I called. I found that my Broadband account had made the system, and the system immediately suspend my account because my new ATT phone number was not connected. In other words, my ATT phone service had not been switched because I was waiting on ATT to create a new phone number for me. I was a little upset that ATT did not give me a warning before I was terminated.
Other Questions: I don't understand why my phone system does what it does. Whenever I have a power outage, I also lose all of my phones - dial tone and all. If some calls me, a recording says all circuits are busy - which of course they are not. This has been happening for over a year now - during which time we have... small office phone system ?We have a small office with 3 CO lines and 5 extensions. I really want a KSU-less system but have tried the ATT964 and Panasonic wireless KX-TG4000, both with undesirable results. I have pretty much convince myself that I need a KSU system an... New office phone system, non ISDN solution? We will shortly be moving to a new office. We've so far made use of a fairly bog-standard ISDN PBX solution. For a number of reasons, we'd like to use only analogue lines at our new location. The requirements are: 6 separate incoming number... Post Office Phone Service ?I've been browsing the Post Office website and came across their home phone service which has three different options for connection: 1) Deposit £10 and dial 1466 for the access code. 2) Deposit £10 and get a router box. 3) Deposit £50 and ... phone service ?We have been talking to some friends about life after bankruptcy. One of our friends swears he cannot get long distance phone service because of his bankruptcy. This occurred almost 6 years ago. I am not an expert on bankruptcies, but think ...
