does anyone know about "architectural engineering"?

Edwards Finance > Architectural Engineering

Q. I am interested in studying architecture with a bent for mechanical/civil engineering. A friend of mine mentioned that I should consider the major "architectural engineering", but I don't know much about this option. My questions are: (1) is this a widely accepted major in the architectural field? (2) does anyone know of any particular institutes that is strong in architectural engineering?

A. -One of the finest schools that offer a degree in Architectural Engr (ARCE) is Calif Polytecnic State Univ in San Luis Obispo. The emphasis is structural engineering, however, the first two years you will be taking classes in Architecture, Landscape Architcture, City and Regional Planning, Construction Management all within the School Of Arcitecture and Environmental Design. -Architectural Engineering typically deals with engineering design on architectural projects. Most college coursework is in engineering studies along with some architectural studies. Some universities allow specialization in a specific engineering discipline in the senior year. this allows you to pick a category such as structural, mechicanical, electrical, etc.
