Alcatel PBX ?Q. Does anybody know if I can get an alcatel system to generate dtmf tones internally? When dialling an external line you dial 69 and it will then send tones. However, that doesn't work internally. Any suggestions? A. There should be a feature code which may need to be entered before or after dialling. On the A4400 system, the default code is "#4". Which system are you using? After dialling the number, #4 is the default for passing DTMF to an external line, I'm not certain you can get DTMF to internal extensions. But you've peaked my curiosity, I'll try tomorrow - now the real question is why would you want to??? All the system commands are DTMF to the processor, the only thing I can think of that would require internal DTMF would be a stand alone site paging system and Alcatel sell a very good integrated paging system. It will work internally from a Reflex phone. I once set up a paging system on an analogue extension. It doesn't work from an Op Console (4035) though. I am sure you can send DTMF digits to an analogue extension. We fit P.A systems to the PCXOffice and they need DTMF digits to be activated. So I am 90% sure you can to an analogue, but doubt if you could to a digital extension. There would be no need to send DTMF digits to a digital extension. Would there?? The reason I want to is because of the voip gateway we've bought. It's plugged into an analog extension, and once you dial it it then expects to receive dtmf tones in order to know what IP address to call. Dilling it from an analog phone works fine, but not from a digital.
